Wipe Up And Avoid A Slip-Up

A spill on a floor can seem like a minor incident, but if someone slips on it the result can be a serious accident.

Falls are a leading cause of fatalities in the industrial work force.  Many are caused by slipping on wet surfaces.

Follow these reminders to prevent slipping accidents:

•  If you notice a spill, clean it up promptly if you can.  Otherwise, barricade the area and inform the maintenance department right away.
•  Beware of slipping hazards caused by ice, water or mud in doorways, lobbies, halls, loading docks, ramps, outdoor steps, sidewalks and parking lots.
•  Maintain machinery and equipment to prevent leaks and spills.  Report problems causing oil and water leaks so they can be corrected.
•  Avoid working or walking on a slippery surface.  If it cannot be avoided, slow down, pay special attention to your actions and take short steps.
