How to Turn a Bad Day Around on a Dime
Anyone who exercises regularly can attest to its stress-busting benefits. A brisk walk, ideally one that raises your pulse substantially for at least half an hour, can do wonders to turn around a terrible day and raise your spirits.
How Exercise Works
Raising your heart rate and breaking a sweat reduces stress hormone levels. Thinking about the good you are doing yourself lifts your mood and makes you feel better about yourself. And studies have shown that the relaxation benefits created through exercising can last for a few hours.
A Quick Walk Can Cool You Down
If you become angry or anxious at work, try to take a short break and go for a walk around the block. Doing so can calm you and allow time to collect your thoughts. While a five-minute walk cannot be considered sufficient exercise, it can still benefit your mood in times of stress.
