Product Description

Color It Hazardous

A fall from a ladder and or other elevated surface is one of the most dramatic ways for a painting job to end.  Painters are also subject to health hazards from inhaling airborne components of paint.  Continued exposure to these respiratory hazards can cause permanent damage to the body’s internal organs or sensitivity which can cause fatal allergic reactions.

So how can you stay safe when you paint?

  • If fall protection equipment is required, use it carefully as directed.  Inspect it before each use for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment.  Spray painting requires respiratory protection.  Always work in a properly ventilated area.
  • Prevent fire by storing paints and solvents in the proper cabinets.  Do not smoke around painting work.
  • Remove paint soaked clothing to avoid excessive skin exposure.  Wash thoroughly before eating and after work.
  • Be aware old paint may contain dangerous amounts of lead.  Use the correct PPE and techniques when removing an old coat of paint.

Don’t gloss over painting hazards because they are real.  Use all safe procedures and equipment to avoid injury and illness.
