We all have a part in security

Learn your part in your company’s security system, and carry out safeguards as instructed. They are in place to protect you from assault, arson fires and other kinds of violence.

Here are some reminders about interpersonal safety in the workplace:

• Promptly report any suspicious activity or any unusual conditions to your supervisor or security staff.
• Take care in isolated areas such as stairwells or hallways. Report poor lighting so it can be improved.
• Your ID badge, keys and wallet containing personal papers should be kept in a secure place.
• Get to know your fellow workers, and look out for their safety and security.
• Avoid conflict with fellow workers. Workplace violence includes fistfights and threatening behavior between workers, much of which can be avoided by being civil and respectful to one another.
