Humor Isn’t Harmless if There is a Victim
There’s a fine line between having a little harmless fun with a new employee, such as sending him or her off in search of an item that doesn’t exist, and engaging in horseplay. With horseplay, a situation can quickly go awry, with unimaginable consequences. For instance:
• It may seem harmless to put a large beetle in someone’s hardhat, but what if the victim is so frightened that he or she falls from a platform?
• Three workers thought it would be hilarious to corner a welder in a bathroom and wrap him from head to toe in duct tape. The prank was far from harmless, because the victim suffered serious knee and back injuries requiring surgery.
