Safety Shoes Help You Put Your Best Foot Forward
Unless you have a job that requires you to stand on your feet for several hours a day, you probably don’t spend any more time thinking of your feet than you do your elbows.
Having a 60-pound (27-kilogram) box land on a pair of open-toed shoes or dress shoes is a pretty good reminder that your feet exist and are vulnerable to painful injury if you are not wearing proper safety footwear.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics says 75 percent of foot injuries occur because workers are not complying with foot protection regulations. And the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) estimates that 10 percent of all reported disabling workplace injuries involve foot punctures, lacerations, sprains or crushing injuries.
Your feet may be several feet away from your brain, but always keep them in mind.
