Ready For An Emergency

Think fast!  If a fire broke out right now in your work area, would you know what to do?  Would you know how to escape safely in any emergency at work?

Emergency preparedness means knowing what to do if something goes wrong.  It is an important part of your safety training.

Here are some of the things you should learn:

• Know at least two ways out of your work area. 
•  Who do you call for help in an emergency?  Telephone numbers of the plant fire, first aid and chemical spill crews, fire department, ambulance and police should be posted at each telephone.
•  You should also learn how to operate a fire extinguisher in case you have the opportunity to fight a small fire.

Pay attention to emergency response training, and take fire drills seriously.  You never know when disaster will strike.
