Wear your PPE
Personal protective equipment (PPE) only works if you wear it. Whether your job calls for a hardhat, goggles, a face shield, earplugs, steel-toed boots or a respirator, it’s up to you to make sure you use it.
Personal protective equipment is the last line of defense against hazards. Your safety training in identifying and avoiding hazards is vital. Your employer will also try to eliminate hazards by using safer processes and materials and separating workers from hazards.
Personal protective gear is available to protect you from a large array of hazards. Special equipment is made to protect your head, hearing, eyes, face, respiratory system, hands, arms, legs, feet and your whole body. This equipment can protect you from impact, chemical exposure, cuts and many other kinds of accidents and injuries.
Your job is to wear the correct PPE as directed by your supervisor, to inspect it regularly for defects and to care for it properly. It will be ready to protect you when you need it!
