It Really is a Big Deal
In the grand scale of workplace hazards, leaving a drawer or cupboard door open doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it can cause significant injury, especially if workers aren’t expecting an obstacle.
Imagine carrying a heavy and hot object, such as a pan full of boiling liquid, and tripping over an unseen open drawer. Or think of backing into an open cabinet drawer while operating a portable saw. The results could be fatal.
Workers frequently sustain injury because they encounter situations that they were not expecting. While you might be careful to keep drawers and cabinet doors closed, others may not. If you aren’t watching where you are going you could walk straight into a headache-inducing or leg-breaking hazard. Be careful.
