Reckless Doesn’t Always Mean Wreck-less
Have you ever driven with someone who was so incompetent behind the wheel that you couldn’t believe you made it to your destination alive?
People break safety rules for all kinds of reasons. They may dislike their jobs and ignore rules out of defiance or to take back control. Just as someone who is steamed over an argument will drive aggressively, the person who is angry at work may take terrible chances and ignore safety.
If you are cautious about protecting yourself and others, and a co-worker is putting others at risk through risky behavior, don’t stand by and condone it. Talk to that person calmly, or tell your supervisor or health and safety representative.
