Don’t Play Electricity Roulette
If you have children you may have had a heart-stopping moment with them involving electricity while they were young. Perhaps you witnessed your toddler gnawing on an electrical cord that was plugged in, or exploring an electrical outlet with a fork.
Electricity is so much a part of our lives that we take it for granted, until the power goes out or we experience a shock and realize we might easily have died.
Here are some pointers to help you live on the pleasant side of electricity:
Always be aware of your surroundings. If you need to raise a tall metal object such as a ladder or pole, first make sure there are no overhead electrical wires nearby.
Keep clear of exposed wiring. This includes any fraying or breakage in the insulation of a power cord or exposed wiring on a tool.
