Adopt the Buddy System For Safety
There’s a lot to be said for the phrase, “You watch my back and I’ll watch yours.”
Implementing a buddy system is arguably one of the best ways to stay safe on the job, particularly in high-risk occupations. Just ask Mike Holmes, the 42-year-old renovation expert and TV star from Toronto, ON. He’s a big promoter of the buddy system.
“If someone is seen doing something unsafe, we mention it. The buddy system reduces injuries drastically because we watch out for each other.”
There have been countless incidents in which workers could have been saved from injury or death if they had been accompanied by a colleague on the worksite. It only takes a second for a serious accident to leave the worker stranded or helpless.
Don’t rely solely on your buddy to keep you safe.
