Protect Youself in Confined Spaces
Any worker who enters a confined space must first receive training in the hazards and safeguards. The worker must also be equipped with the appropriate personal protective gear.
The atmosphere must be properly tested for presence of noxious or flammable gases and for oxygen levels. Ventilation must be carried out if appropriate and the worker must wear supplied air respiratory protection if needed.
Standby personnel must be there to observe and communicate with the worker, ready to call for help in an emergency. No one may enter a confined space without authorization in the form of a written permit.
