Truck Safety: When Bad Crashes Happen to Good Drivers
Who is behind the wheel of that vehicle coming toward you in the opposite lane? Is it someone drunk, drugged or hung over from a night of partying? Is it an inexperienced teen or a confused senior? Is it a parent distracted by a crying child or a businessperson distracted by a cell phone call? Is it someone made reckless by anger, or a professional driver too tired to stay awake?
Any of these drivers could cross the thin line separating the opposing traffic lanes and crash head-on into your vehicle. A recent study of head-on collisions showed 42 per cent of those killed were innocent drivers, obeying the traffic laws and driving in the designated lane. They were victims of someone else’s bad driving.
